When my friends ask how to stay close to God when life feels so mundane, I send them this list—
1. Use a reading plan

You won’t always feel like doing it. But a Bible reading plan helps you stay consistent. God still speaks through His Word. If we want to hear from Him, we’ve got to keep showing up. Stay in the Word to stay connected.
2. Keep showing up
Daily life can be so, so ordinary sometimes. We may feel like our efforts are wasted on repetitive tasks. But just remember: we can do everything for God’s glory—even washing the dishes and feeding our families. He will use our small steps of faithfulness to fulfill His greater purpose.
3. Pray about everything
Talk to God about everything. He cares about the smallest parts of your ordinary, mundane moments, just as much as the big things. Share your thoughts, fears, requests, and praises. Invite Him into each moment, ask for wisdom, and surrender each concern.
4. Be inspired

Make space to grow in the ways that inspire you. Whether it’s reading, creating art, journaling, decorating, baking, walking in nature, writing, or crafting. Be refreshed and renewed as you fan the flame of your gifts and callings in small, meaningful ways each day.
5. Step out in faith
We don’t always know the future or what God’s plan is. But He is leading us each and every day. If God has been encouraging or nudging you in a particular direction, keep stepping out. You never know how God will use your daily faithfulness.
