A few reminders about God’s peace 💕 What would you add to the list?
#1 remember that God never changes
The world is full of uncertainty and turmoil: health issues, unexpected financial burdens, loss of loved ones, global crises, relational distress, and unmet expectations. No matter how much we plan, life often does not go as planned. In the middle of change and distress, we seek stability. Whatever happens around us, God does not change. He is still our peace.
#2 know that God’s peace is different
Jesus said that His peace is NOT like the peace the world offers. The world’s type of peace relies on circumstances going well ‒ when life is easy, we are happy. The peace Jesus offers does not rely on our situations going well. His peace remains steadfast through the ups and downs. In this life, we have trouble, but we can still have peace because Jesus overcame the world.
#3 pray about everything
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7) When we give God our problems in prayer, God gives us His peace in return. Are you often stressed? Maybe you ought to often pray.
#4 don’t forget to pursue peace
Scripture instructs us to turn from evil and seek peace. Sometimes we allow our lives to be absent of peace because we have forgotten to watch over our hearts and minds. When we allow bitterness or resentment against others to rule in our hearts, we miss the peace that only comes from surrendering those burdens to God. Choosing forgiveness (or asking for it!) will help us pursue peace.
