What Is God’s Will for My Life?
“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
Philippians 1:6
Anyone else ever struggle with understanding God’s will for your life? 🙋 Over the years, I’ve heard a lot of young women asking questions about what God’s will is for their lives. It’s hard to say it, but this is also where I spent a lot of my time – asking questions over and over, anxiously trying to figure out what I “should” be doing 🤔, and trying to earn God’s approval by doing it.
Here are 3 simple truths I’ve learned about God’s will for your life:
-
it’s not as complicated as you think
God’s will for us was never meant to be complicated or hard to figure out. To put it simply, His will for our lives is that we are transformed into the image of Christ over the course of our lives through the work of His Holy Spirit.
-
God is doing the work in us
Yes, we get to partner with God in seeing His will come to pass in our lives, but we cannot do it without Him. You can rest in knowing that God is at work in you. “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6)
-
you don’t have to be anxious about it
I know how easy it is to be anxious about whether or not a decision is God’s will. Just remember, God’s Word is a lamp unto your feet. Everything you need for life is found in scripture, which reveals God’s will for our lives in Christ. You don’t have to be anxious about stepping out of God’s will if you simply read and obey His word.
