“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:10
Faith is not a feeling.
Unqualified. Afraid. Uncomfortable. There are many reasons we don’t feel ready or equipped to share Jesus or make a difference in the world around us. Rather than trusting that God is with us to help us, we might worry we aren’t enough. While we are not enough on our own, Christ in us is enough. Our strength comes from Him.
We are His workmanship. He created and designed us. Everything we need is found in Him. We can trust Him even when we don’t understand.
When I started writing blogs and devotionals, I felt intimidated. Even though I felt called to write, I still struggled to feel equipped and ready. I felt like I wasn’t qualified to share my thoughts and beliefs. What would people think? Who will actually read my blogs or books? I looked to other people for direction and validation, rather than to God.
My feelings of inadequacy and inferiority stopped me dead in my tracks, many times.
What I have learned over the years is that faith is not a feeling. We do not have to feel prepared in order to take our next step. We do not even have to feel qualified. God is the one who qualifies us. We are qualified because of Jesus, who also gives us strength to do what we are called to do. Our qualification does not come through other people. It comes only from the Lord.
I wonder, what has God called you to do? What is keeping you from doing it? Fear? Worry about what other people will think? Not feeling qualified?
Your challenge this week is to trust God with the mountain you are facing. Your mountain might be the fear of what other people think or procrastination in something God has called you to do. Whatever it is, pray and ask God to help you. Trust that He is enough and is in you to help you. Obedience is what matters, not other people’s opinions. God is faithful to guide and provide what you need. Trust Him with your next step and watch what He will do.
