Even in the Wilderness

God Will Carry and Sustain You Even in the Wilderness

God has a history of carrying His people. He lifted the Israelites out of bondage in Egypt and took them through the wilderness toward the Promised Land. He constantly provided for, sustained, and kept His people safe while guiding them to their best future.

Yet, His people often forgot His goodness and rebelled against Him. Not trusting Him to lead them somewhere good, they wished they had remained as slaves in Egypt.

The Lord your God who goes before you will himself fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes, and in the wilderness, where you have seen how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, all the way that you went until you came to this place.’ Yet in spite of this word you did not believe the Lord your God, who went before you in the way to seek you out a place to pitch your tents, in fire by night and in the cloud by day, to show you by what way you should go. Deuteronomy 1:30-33

Today, God still carries His people, His church, through each difficulty and wilderness experience we face. It’s our choice to either trust Him or go our own way. When the resources run dry and the path is unclear, will we choose to remember the One who carried us through other difficult seasons?
Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been borne by me from before your birth, carried from the womb; even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save. Isaiah 46:3-4
We can be sure that God has not changed. His promise to carry us remains true. The One who provided food, water, and direction in the wilderness will still do that for us if we let Him.
