Embrace Your Story

Embrace Your Story

“Lord, what about him?” Peter asked, pointing to another disciple named John. It wasn’t enough that Jesus had just finished telling Peter a few details about his future. Even with clear instructions to “feed His sheep,” Peter still wanted to know what Jesus had called John to do.

embrace your storyAs Christian women, I wonder how often we ask the question, “Lord, what about her?” Rather than embracing our own calling, we look at what others are doing. We compare our callings. We want to know if the race we are running is as important as “hers.”

But the reality is that whatever Jesus calls you to do is equally as important. Every believer is a special part in the body of Christ. Our lives and callings will always look different, and that’s okay.

Jesus reminds us to stay focused. He even rebuked Peter by saying, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” The important part is simply following Jesus, not looking at what other people are doing.

Don’t forget that:

  • Your story is unique
  • Your story is covered by grace
  • Your story is able to help others
  • Your story is just as beautiful as hers
  • Your story may have a messy middle, but it also has a beautiful ending
