Celebrating God’s Faithfulness

“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Lamentations 3:22–23

Thinking Over the Ups and Downs of 2022

Wow, life has changed so much since the last time I posted. Last year began with heartbreak and counselling, but ended up flourishing with love and new beginnings. It was a monumental year that I thought was going to be much different than it actually turned out. I met my husband, got married, became a military spouse, and moved to Alabama, all in the span of 12 months. It wasn’t the year I planned for, but it was the one I prayed for.

While I have had my share of hard times, I can’t help but thank God for all the little (and big) things He has done. Life isn’t easy and doesn’t always turn out how we expect. But along the journey, we can see traces of God’s goodness. His favor and guidance are always present.

“Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” (Psalm 23:6)

As I look back over last year, I can’t help but wonder what God will do this year.

When we surrender our little prayers into the hands of a big God, we can expect something beautiful. Even something wildly unexpected.

I really enjoy taking pictures of special moments. Whether I am going on a walk with my husband, having coffee with a friend, or experiencing the breathtaking beauty of nature, I can’t help but take pictures. Looking back over these snapshots is a reminder of the good things I have experienced. when I have a bad day, they remind me of everything I still have to be thankful for.

Journaling is another habit I enjoy. Keeping track of what I do, who I encounter during the day, what I pray for, and what I struggle with also helps me see how God was leading me. I can look back over the years and recognize answers to prayers on the pages of my journal. As I flip through the old pages, I see the heartbreaks and the deeper healing that came with them. I see the detours that straightened out my heart. I see God’s faithfulness through the ups and downs.

How do you celebrate and remember God’s faithfulness?
