“For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your fatherβs house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?β
Esther 4:14
As a young Christian woman, I admire Esther on so many levels. Her boldness, humility, and faithfulness are deeply inspiring. Yet, every time I read her story I tend to think, “good for her.”
Can you relate? Have you ever looked at another Christian woman’s life and said, “wow, God is at work in her life, but what about me? Why hasn’t God called me to do something like that?”
Sometimes we can slip into the trap of comparing our stories to others’. At least, I do πββοΈ
With that kind of perspective, I see the godly women around me, the pillars of faith, as competitors in a game I’m losing. Chapter for chapter, with stories compared, mine doesn’t seem to stack up. At least, not from my perspective.
But as I’ve been going through this study on the book of Esther, I’ve been challenging myself to embrace what God has given me – the life and story that’s still being written – and to ask, “Lord, what do you want me to do?”
While God truly had a plan for Esther, we can rest assured He has one for us too. My hope is that as we delve into the pages of Esther’s story, you’ll be encouraged to embrace every moment of your own God-given life – in all of its messiness and uniqueness.
Let’s jump into the book of Esther, not with a “good for you” mindset, but with a humble heart asking, “God, what do you want me to glean and apply from Your Word today?”
